Our Story

Fishboy Kitchen began with a father's simple wish — to get his daughter to eat fish again.

Fishboy's daughter loved fish as a young child, but at the age of six she nearly choked on a fish bone and refused to touch fish from that day on. He had an idea: he invited his daughter to make fishballs with him. She loved the process, happily ate the fishballs, and when he simmered the leftover fish heads and bones into a rich broth, she finally welcomed fish back into her life.

Word spread among friends who shared the same passion for healthy, additive-free food. What started as small batches made for a close circle of families grew steadily by word of mouth. In 2021, the Fishboy Kitchen brand was officially established, dedicated to crafting MSG-free, preservative-free food made with care.

From our signature handmade fishballs to festive classics like poon choi and radish cake, Fishboy Kitchen brings the taste of home to families in Sydney — honest, wholesome food made the way it should be.

Meet Fishboy

Fishboy entered the culinary world at just 15, mentored by his uncle, a dim sum master.

Fishboy honed his craft across some of Hong Kong's most respected restaurants, including Tao Heung, Fulum, Four Seasons Hot Pot, and Tin Tin Hot Pot. Along the way, he mastered Cantonese cooking, hotpot preparation, and the traditional art of handmade fishballs and meatballs. He went on to hold a management role at the Star Seafood Restaurant Group.

A lifelong learner, Fishboy continually sharpened his skills through professional certifications and culinary competitions, including those organised by the Chinese Culinary Institute of Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Federation of Trade Unions.

After meeting his wife Jessie and starting a family, Fishboy made the bold decision to migrate to Australia at the peak of his career. Guided by his belief that 'by helping others, you help yourself', he listened closely to what families wanted and crafted products to suit every household — building Fishboy Kitchen one dish at a time.
